Discovery Education Streaming Plus

Discovery Education Streaming Plus is a comprehensive digital service that supplements instruction across all K-12 curricular areas. It motivates students to learn and helps teachers in every content area to transform their instruction. Resources are aligned to each provincial curriculum and are searchable. Teacher resources include lesson plans, instructional strategies, and content collections organized around central themes. Students can access images, primary source documents, podcasts, oral interviews, books on tape, articles, and videos, to name a few.

Bringing the Real World Into the Classroom

Designed and driven by provincial outcomes, Streaming uses engaging multimedia resources to add power to your lessons while supporting all curriculum requirements. It provides you with the tools to teach your students to think critically about the content they use, see, and experience in their daily lives and to ask questions about the world around them. In support of outcomes-based instruction, Streaming Plus Canada is centered around the student experience.

What Educators Can Do with Streaming Plus

  • Access a wide variety of learning resources, including instructional videos, skill builders, writing prompts, multimedia activities, and articles.
  • Save time with Model Lessons, practical examples that show how to pull the content together to meet specific outcomes.
  • Quickly find appropriate and relevant content, search by outcomes, grade level or subject, and more.
  • Put students in control of their learning with individual student logins, the Student Centre, and Board Builder, a virtual project board for students to produce and share their own content and learning.
  • Personalize instruction by creating informal, individual assessments with our Builder Tools to get actionable feedback on student understanding.
  • Learn how to use the resources in the most effective way with in-product professional development modules and on-site professional development options.
  • Find unique "Discovery"-only opportunities such as the Global Wrap news service, virtual field trips and exclusive content collections.
  • Be part of a global professional learning community. The Discovery Educator Network (DEN) is a community of educational professionals that fosters valuable networking, idea sharing, and inspiration.

Our most popular student-centric feature, Board Builder, promotes independent learning by challenging students to be content producers. With Board Builder, students create virtual project boards using multimedia and text to synthesize their thinking and provide evidence of their understanding of a concept or problem. Boards can be shared with the teacher, classmates, parents, and even with classrooms across the country.

What Administrators Are Saying

"Our kids are very technology savvy and they understand how it works and that has allowed us to bring, at their fingertips, some of the things they like doing best, which is just using technology. It's fun to them and they're learning at the same time. So, I think it's certainly motivating them. It's increased their interest, increased their engagement, and I think in most cases it has increased their achievement in the classroom."
